| Helicopters
are commonly used to transport thousands of tourists into remote places
in Alaska. There are two main disturbing environmental consequences
from the expansion of the heli-tourism industry: 1) Helicopters
burn about 50 gallons of fuel per hour, and 2) scientific studies
show helicopter overflights disturb wildlife. Mountain goats are
one of the most sensitive animals to human disturbance.
